My child’s difficulties with school related tasks such as pronunciation, reading, writing, spelling etc coloring

My child’s difficulties with school related tasks such as pronunciation, reading, writing, spelling etc.I know it can be very frustrating when your child is having trouble with these tasks.

Here are Gibby’s top three recommendations for you.

  1. Dekko Comics

These are educational comics that teach your child a variety of school topics without them realizing! This is a great way to show your child that reading and learning can be fun. Creator Rossie Stone turned his study notes into comics which made his grades go from Ds to As. https://dekkocomics.com/

  1. Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain

This is a wonderful book by Maryanne Wolf that explains that humans weren’t born to read. Knowing this she outlines why it’s particularly challenging for a dyslexic brain to learn how to read because it’s relying on the brain’s ability to be able to learn something new. Understanding the history of reading is a real game changer in understanding your child’s challenges.

  1. Have Gibby Send Your Child A Hand-Written Post-Card

This is a fun, low stress way for your child to get to know a fellow dyslexic and for writing to be enjoyable with no red pen involved. There’s no obligation for your child to respond, but they are certainly welcome to. Gibby will respond to all mail within 30 days. To learn more about the program and to have a post sent to your child click here.
